Today, we are going to understand in detail about Sacral Chakra (Svadhisthana), the 2nd Chakra. This will help you understand it in detail with it characteristic and different ways to work on balancing it.
Basic Characteristics of Sacral Chakra
Sacral Chakra is Orange in colour. It is situated at 4 inches below Navel / Sacrum / Pelvic Area. The element of Sacral Chakra is Water.
Sacral Chakra has the rights “to feel”. The sense associated with this chakra is Taste. Its primary function is Relationship and Emotions. It works on the principals of Sensitivity and Sensuality.
Understanding symptoms of Sacral Chakra
Basic issues related to this chakra are Sexuality, Self gratification. With the lack of energy or imbalance of Sacral Chakra, symptoms noted are Resentful, very shy, freezes with fear, sexual guilt, buried emotions, untrusting. If the Sacral Chakra is over-active or excessively open, symptoms noted are aggressive, see others as a sex object, volatile emotions, self-serving, manipulative. The colour of the chakra is used, in form of clothing and jewellery for the treatment, when the energy of chakra is low and its opposite colour is used when the chakra is excessively open. So, to balance the chakra energy when deficient, use Orange colour for treatment and Indigo colour is used to treat excessively opened chakra. The characteristics of balanced Sacral Chakra are Creative, friendly, attuned to feelings, intuitive, concern for others.
Sacral Chakra Connection
Sacral Chakra is connected to Brow: Automatic Nervous System, Hypothalamus, Eyes and Pituitary gland. It is emotionally connected to Intimacy and Letting go: Taste, Emotional Needs, Emotional cleansing, Warmth; Desire.
Sacral Chakra Treatments
To balance this Chakra, using colour therapy, Decorate your home or workplace in shades of orange, wear orange clothing and jewellery.
You can use the chakra element to balance the chakra also. The element therapy to balance Sacral Chakra – Spend time by bodies of water: the ocean, lakes or rivers. Hop in and go swimming.
The Chakra can be balanced with good nutrition. Eat Oranges, carrots, melons, mango, nuts and seeds.
By chanting Vam while meditating can also help to balance Sacral Chakra. Affirmation for balancing Sacral Chakra is “I am beautiful, creative and unique.”.
Here, I am sharing a small meditation using Mudra for balancing Sacral Chakra.
Put your hands in your lap, palms up, on top of each other. Keep the left hand underneath and its palm touching the back of the fingers of the right hand. The tips of the thumbs touch gently.
Concentrate on the Sacral chakra at the sacral bone (on the lower back).
Chant the sound VAM.
Use any of the above methods consistently for 21 days to balance your Sacral Chakra and experience the change in your life. For some people it may take little longer too. Ensure you are doing it daily at a fix time and place, if you are meditating.
